Hi, I'm thinking of getting an Ipod, either a latest generation Nano, or an Ipod touch. I like the Nano's portability. But internet connectivity would be nice. What device is best for downloading audiobooks. If I get an 8 or 16 G model of either device, how many Gigs will a standard audiobook hold? I want to download a Bible, so that could hog a lot of room. Do I need to compress the audiofiles and how do you do that on an Ipod. Thanks for any tips you might have.

Wow. That's a lot of gigabytes. I can get at least 72 audiobooks on my Touch. Then again it is a 32-gig model.

Oh, man, maybe I'd better go with a larger storage capacity. If one book is about 3.5 G, that'll only hold like two books. Plus, I want room for my music.

Yup. Right now I have 70 audiobooks and about 2400 songs on my IPod and still have about 7 GB free. Then again books from Audible seem to take up a lot less space than a book on CD might.

Oh okay, I was thinking of getting maybe a Nano or touch, cause I think they both work with audible books. Can anyone give me an idea about the Ipod touch's internet connectibility? Is it easy to log on, I'm mainly thinking for when I travel. Does anyone use an external keyboard with their Ipod touch? I do like the Nano's portability though, as I'll probably be working out a lot when I use it.

The touch is about the size of an I-phone, only thinner. My husband has a nanno, my son a touch, and I have a phone. Hubby says the nano is ok for books but he doesn't read a bunch. If I were choosing between the 2, I'd go with the touch. I don't know if the nano connects to the internet or not. Sounds like you're definitely going to want to go with a 64 gig if they have one.
Along the line of Bibles, Audible has an NIV Bible for $26 or so. The reader is great.

I think the Touch and Nano both have 64 Gigs I think. I don't think I'd put a whole lot of books on either nodel to begin with.

if you wanting to download audiobook, and if you wanting the capability of internet and download audiobook directly from places like audible etc, the touch will be your best option. it can do much more than the nano. get at least 16gb or 32gb, of course, if you can aford it, get the 64gb.

usually, an audio book will be anyware from 150mb to 1gb. is quite unusual to have an audio book in a size of 3.5gb.

I have a 32GB Touch. I have about 4000 songs, 50 apps and 15-20 books from bookshare on it and still have about 10GB of free space. Audible books take up more room than bookshare, but still, you can hold a lot of books with 32GB. It connects very easily to wi fi and works great with an external keyboard. I use mine with a Braille display as well. Everything on the Touch is intuitive and easy to use once you get used to interacting with Voiceover.
